About Sweeney Todd the Musical Thriller
| This is a revival of the 1979 musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, which is based on Christopher Bond's version of a 19th century English legend. It tells the story of a barber named Sweeney Todd who is driven to crime after a malevolent judge takes his wife and child from him. His plan for revenge includes a cutthroat partnership with Mrs. Lovett, an enterprising bar mistress who is soon producing the tastiest meat pies in all London.
This production originated in London in the Watermill Theatre in 2004. It features a cast of ten performers, all of whom play musical instruments as well as act in the story.
