The Legendary South Pacific On Broadway

Set on a South Pacific island during World War II, this musical tells the story of Nellie, a U.S. Navy nurse, and Emile de Becque, a French plantation owner. The two had originally met at a dinner at an officer's club, were immediately drawn to one another, and fall in love.
However, Nellie has some deep-rooted prejudices she must contend with, and the more she learns about Emile, the more she believes she cannot love him. We travel with the two on the paths they must follow to reconcile everything. Nellie must come to some resolution with the bigotry that she possesses, Emile must deal with the possible reality of losing the one he loves.
With music and lyrics written respectively by the legendary Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, South Pacific won an incredible ten Tony Awards for the original Broadway production, including Best Musical and Best Score.
The Broadway revival was equally as successful, winning seven 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Revival.
