While waiting on hold for Verizon customer service, the mind wanders. Mine wandered to special teams in the NHL this season, and whether proficiency on the power play or the penalty kill equated to success in the standings. Wednesday's Three Stars: Iggy leads Flames; dueling shutouts
No. 1 Star: Jarome Iginla(notes), Calgary FlamesThe Flames got some breaks against the Dallas Stars, and Iginla made the most of them. His first goal of the game came on a 3-on-1. His second goal, the OT game-winner, came after a borderline delay-of-game penalty on Loui Eriksson(notes), in which he cleared the puck over the glass while outside of the defensive zone. Hip Checks: Ott gets 2-game suspension, Scuderi fined by NHL
As Mike Heika pointed out yesterday, Steve Ott(notes) of the Dallas Stars is a repeat offender. He received a three-game suspension for hitting Jordan Leopold(notes) in the head, and he received a one-game suspension for gouging Travis Moen's(notes) eyes. Ott also was put on NHL Wheel of Discipline trial last season for charging Colin Campbell's son Gregory, but was exonerated. THE DALLAS STARS ICE GIRLS WENT TO THE LAKE
Apparently, the Dallas Stars are having trouble selling season tickets or something. That's the only legitimate reason I could come up with for them rolling out this video yesterday of their cheerleaders going to the lake in bikinis. And you can really blame the Stars organization? These days, the talk of the town are the Cowboys and their huge attendance numbersHard to compete against the NFL and Cowboys cheerleaders...So when the time comes, I guess you have to slut it up a little.I, for...

Several arena traditions have emerged since the move, including the fans shouting "Stars!" when that word comes up during the National Anthem, and the playing of the "Dallas Stars Fight Song", recorded by metal band and Dallas natives Pantera when the Stars take to the ice after intermission.
