I’m paying attention to the games!!!

Friday’s game against the Pistons was No. 6 of my 10 games out of action, so I’m so happy now that this thing is almost over now. I’m actually ready to get back on the road and get these next two games in, and then after the Cleveland game, then I’m just one game out.Trust me, Nov. 16 against Charlotte is circled on my calendar. It’s obviously tough being out, but I am happy when the team wins. It was tougher on me in Detroit when we lost that game. That was one where I got down on myself a little bit, but the guys have been doing a good job for the most part.Everybody keeps asking me about what I’m doing during games. Well, I know this might come as a surprise to some of you (kidding!!!) but I actually watch the games really closely.During the game I get a few text messages from friends, but I don’t respond until after the game. When I’m sitting there, I pay attention to what’s going on in the game. I watch every little detail, watching the rotations and I’m watching Stan with the play calls. Even when I can’t hear him, I know what he’s mad about. I guess because I’m on this team I really know every little thing going on that other people wouldn’t know even though I’m not at the arena. It does make it tough sometimes to watch the game because my little girl, Gianna, usually wants to play then. She’s just 2 so she doesn’t understand that daddy needs to watch the game. She’s jumping on top of me, wanting candy and telling me to play with her, but I tell her that I have to watch the game. I’m watching her, but I’m paying attention to the game at the same time. When I’m there she wants me to hold her and when I go out of the room she’s right behind me. When I go into my movie room – that’s where I watch the games -- she’s right there with me. With little kids you have to watch every little movement because you don’t want her to put anything in her mouth or jump down off the couch and hurt herself. I’m watching her and watching the game too.It has been kind of hard on me mentally lately because I’m working out really hard, but I’m not getting to play in the game. But I’ve made it that far and I can get through the rest of this.I need ya’ll’s support when I get back. My timing might be a little rusty, but I think my shot is going to be tight and my legs will be fresh. I’m out now and I’ll holler at you guys again real soon.SWEET LEW

Urban Meyer, Disciplinarian
Urban Meyer is named for a pope, so he was pretty much born to be a rule-maker. Meyer displayed some of his renowned iron-fisted ways this week, suspending linebacker Brandon Spikes for an entire half against Vanderbilt after Spikes tried gouging the eyes of Georgia running back Washuan Ealey in last week’s game. (The suspension eventually [...]

J.J. Redick's Got A Rap Album
Of course he does. The Magic guard will be heading a "supergroup," which is a generous term when Jonathan Clay Redick is the most famous member. The group doesn't have a name yet — Redick mentioned "Sub-Par," "Afterthought," and "No-Profits" as possibilities — but they have their first single. Or most of it, anyway. The chorus has been written and the first verse and the direction we're heading on the song has to deal with &lsquo...

The best NHL player who won't win the Stanley Cup
After Alex Rodriguez helped some team in some sport Leahy cares about win a world title, A-Rod evidently stopped being "the best player in all of American sports who will never win a championship." At least in the eyes of Dan Levy of The Sporting Blog. Levy, a lapsed puckhead from The Great Lockout Purge of 2005, called us today to ask if there were any players in the NHL that would fit that description: A star player who will "will end his career with utter disappointment"...

Tyrus Thomas Out 4-6 Weeks

Well I'll commence eating crow now. Earlier today I went out and said that I was pretty sure that was being a baby with his latest injury as just another reaction to him losing playing time this season. Thomas hurt his arm while working out at the Berto Center on Friday morning, and I thought he may have been embelleshing the extent of his injury to make some kind of point. Well,

And the Dominoes Begin to Fall: Myers Says His Phillies Career is Over
Wow. That happened a lot faster than I anticipated. One of the key pieces of the Phillies magical run over the past two seasons is reportedly done as a Phillie. "I officially won’t be a Phillie next year," Myers told the Inquirer's Jim Salisbury. Ruben Amaro Jr. met with Myers today and told him his time in Philadelphia has come to an end and thanked him for his work. "I was just like, 'OK, thanks for putting up with my (stuff),'" Myers said. Unaired 'Bruno' Clip: Pete Rose Interview
I actually saw Bruno in the theaters. Didn't think it was as funny as Borat, but still amusing enough at times. Anyway, one of the bits from the movie involved Sacha Baron Cohen's character coming to a place to do interviews and realizing there was no furniture. Instead, he had the interview subject -- in the movie, it's Paula Abdul -- sit down on one of the laborers doing work. Evidently there was a scene that didn't air in the movie that involved former Cincinnati Reds legen...
