The 10 biggest NHL stories of the last decade
(No, the first decade of the 21st century doesn't technically end until 2011. Save your bellyaching. But we've had nine NHL seasons and one stolen from us since 1999-2000, and Yahoo! Sports has decided it's time to rank the best and worst of the last "decade." Enjoy, and snark freely in the comments.)Moments of unjustifiable criminal behavior. Economic despair. Debilitating physical ailments that irrevocably changed the lives of many. Man, was this a great decade for the...

Rasheed Wallace: LeBron is a Flopper
Rasheed Wallace picked up his 5th technical foul as the Celtics defeated the Raptors. Wallace, who has never been able to control his temper, apparently takes no responsibility for getting techs anymore. Instead it was because Hedo Turkoglu flopped while defending ‘Sheed. That most certainly must have been the reason that Rasheed Wallace couldn’t control [...]

Steve over at TYU points out this noteworthy item. From Bob Elliot (Slam! Sports): Will Roy Halladay leave Toronto via the same route as ex-Blue Jays aces David Cone and Roger Clemens? Headed for the Bronx and the New York Yankees? It has always been a possibility. Now that chance has been upgraded. “I don’t know who Toronto will wind [...]

JOHNSON MOST DOMINANT EVER? MAYBE NOT
Jimmie Johnson has won four straight Sprint Cup titles, something no other driver has done. That makes him the most dominant driver of all time during any four-year span, right? The answer is no, according to the Wall Street Journal. (Brief aside: I love the Journal. Great newspaper. But when it weighs in on NASCAR, awkward things like this tend to happen. So I take this piece with a grain of salt.) According to writer David Biderman, Johnson is not the most dominant champion in history. He ...

Our Short, Regional Nightmare is Over: Kragthorpe Out as Coach
What started as very early morning message board rumors, picked up steam at approximately 10:33 AM when Pat Forde joined the crew on Gameday for an announcement, and became basically official with multiple reports (ESPN.com, LSR, ITV), is the biggest news of the season, a sentence many of us have been waiting to write, read, say aloud, text or even Tweet: Steve Kragthorpe is no longer the coach of the University of Louisville football team. A noon news conference will make it official. So no...

Swamp braces for nostalgia, possible Tebow ascension in home finale
Tebow gazing with the proprietor of Tim Teblog. Why is ESPN's GameDay crew breaking for Gainesville Saturday? There have to be more important games than Florida-Florida State in a weekend full of consequential rivalry matches, and certainly there should be more engaging affairs -- the Gators are three-touchdown favorites. But the appeal is obvious: The pulse of America's Saturday smorgasbord will be there because it's Tim Tebow's final home game. (That it could plausibly be Bobb...

Alabama-Auburn Game Truly a Classic

Will the Mets be interested in Scutaro for 2B
If the Mets do trade Louis Castillo they will then be left with a whole at 2B, most consider Orlando Hudson a lock for the spot. The Herald speculates that if the Mets rid themselves of Castillo they may become interested in Scutaro. One incentive the Mets may have over other clubs in regards to any Type A free agent...

Jays Looking For An Arm And A Bat For Halladay
Another day, another Roy Halladay rumor. Regardless of how great Halladay is, it's a steep price to pay for just one year of his services. Yesterday we heard that the Red Sox would "almost certainly" have to give up Clay Buchholz and Casey Kelly to acquire Halladay, thou...

Ryan Clark would like the league's permission to punch a coach
Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels made a slight stir on Sunday when he engaged in some pre-game trash-talking with the Chargers defense. He said to a group of Chargers linebackers before the game, "We own you!" There was no word on what the Chargers might have said previously or in response, but mild-mannered choir boys, I'm sure they were not. I didn't think much of it myself, but it's gotten the attention of a few people around the league. Among them is Pittsbur...

The Top 5 Turkeys of the NBA Season

Nate Robinson - Aside from their lack of defense, Nate's three-point heave at the other team's basket perfectly captures the dysfunction that is the Knicks. 4. Joey Crawford - This notorious referee made this list the night he slapped Doc Rivers and Kendrick Perkins with technical fouls for non-verbal gestures during the 4th quarter of a close game with Indy. Two Reasons why the Tigers Should Not Trade Miguel Cabrera
With all the Miguel Cabrera trade talk swirling around, it's hard to figure out how serious these discussions are. The Tigers money situation is bad, but is it really bad enough where the Tigers have to trade their best position player? I find that hard to believe. I'm a strong believer that the Tigers need to build around Cabrera, not trade him, and here are my two main reasons why: 1. Franchise Player -Miguel Cabrera is one of the few true franchise players in baseball right now. Ca...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

What's up everybody??? Happy Thanksgiving to everybody out there, hope you guys are getting to eat some good bird today and spend time with your families. Of course, we’re not because we’re on the way to Atlanta right now to play the Hawks on Thanksgiving Day.

We’re not getting any of the holidays off this year, but that just comes with the territory in the NBA. It’s not like I can just skip a day of work because I don’t want to work on Thanksgiving.

But it’s not all bad because really it’s an honor to play on the holidays. They are obviously picking us to play in prime time on Thanksgiving and Christmas because we were a Finals team last year and they think we’re pretty good this year, too.

It’s a weird time for me right now because I’m so thankful for everything that I have in my life on Thanksgiving, but I’m struggling on the basketball court.

Our game versus Miami was a really bad one because we blew a big lead and then lost it down the stretch because we missed free throws and didn’t rebound the ball. I mean, who would have ever guessed that D-Wade woulda fired up an airball in that situation, making it easier for Miami to get that put-back bucket that beat us by one???

It’s going to be hard to get that taste out of our mouths, so maybe it’s a good thing that we turn around and play the Hawks tonight. That’s better than sitting around for a few days and thinking about what we did wrong. I know Atlanta has had four days off, but I think we’ll be ready to bounce back from the Miami loss.

As for me right now, I’m not shooting the ball well and I just don’t feel like my legs are up under me for some reason. I feel like I’m pushing my shot and my legs feel heavy. I feel like I’m playing catch-up with the rest of the guys. I’m playing pretty good defense, but on offense I haven’t gotten myself in a good rhythm yet.

I know it will come in time, but I want it to happen right away. Missing those 10 games really put me behind, but I really think I’ll catch up soon. I just feel like I need a streak of two or three shots to go in and I can break out of this funk.

But I’m not going to complain too much because it’s Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for. All my dreams have come true playing basketball and now I just want us to go and win that championship this season. I’m thankful for my family, my health and my successful career. So even though I’m kind of upset about my play right now, I’m going to keep reminding myself that I should be thankful today.

Hope you guys have a good Turkey Day, and I need you to eat a few sweet potatoes and turkey legs for me. And be thankful for everything that you have in your life. Talk to y'all later everybody! Don't forget to vote for me and my Magic brothers everyday!!!

Salute Allen Iverson
As a basketball fan or just even a casual watcher, you have no choice but to praise Allen Iverson on his career. Yes he established the hip-hop era and had quite the mouth, but statistically he had a terrific career. He had a sensational career at Georgetown, averaging 23.0 PPG, 4.6 APG, and 3.2 SPG. The 76ers drafted him 1st in the 1996 NBA draft. From their Iverson would spend 11 seasons in Philly and averaged 28 PPG. He won rookie of the year, was the scoring champion six times, and made 1...

Some Things I'm Thankful For

Today was my 33rd birthday and I'm so grateful for the many blessings I have received.First of all, I have four great kids. That's right I said four. My beautiful 5-year old Alexis; my twins, Sariah and Donovan who turn one next week; and Devin James who was born last Friday night. My wife, Raquel, whose beauty and strength I admire every day. My parents and brother who continue to be my strongest fans and my toughest critics! My family pitched in tonight in a very big way. First of all, everything we do for the Fund is a group effort. But tonight, we really had some people help make a difference. One of our yearly goals is to help out some people around the holidays. Under Roxi's leadership, we have done that for many years. Well, with the baby being born this past weekend and our practice schedule getting ready for the Redskins, Roxi and I couldn't appear in person but had to count on a few people to help serve Thanksgiving Dinner to the families at Stenton Manor in Mt. Airy.First off, my mother and father attended to let those in attendance know the entire McNabb family cares about them. I must thank Danette James from Da-Network Housing who organized the event and got everybody on the same page. I also have to thank Sonny DiCrecchio and the Philadelphia Regional Produce Market for donating all the food. A special thanks go to the wives and families of some of my current and former teammates [Megan Brown (Reggie), Tammi Trotter (Jeremiah), Maggie Jean-Gillies (Max) and Loretta Runyan (Jon), and Cynthia Johnson ('s mom)] who pitched in and served the food.BTW - Congratulations to He signed with the yesterday and pledged to help them for the remainder of the season before retiring and seeking a career as a NJ Congressman.
