British synthpop duo Yazoo, known as Yaz in the United States, had an impressive string of hit singles in the U.K. during the early part of the eighties. The members of the band were Vince Clarke, formerly of Depeche Mode and Alison Moyet.
The duo put out two discs in a two-year span, both of which landed in the Top Five on the charts in the U.K., and three Top Five singles as well. The music was highly danceable and their music did very well on the U.S. Dance Charts. Their brief career came to an abrupt end before the release of their posthumous second album.
Alison Moyet want on to a successful solo career, while Vince Clarke formed the very successful Erasure. Yaz's music can be heard in various films, televison shows and video games, proof that although their career was very brief, Yaz had a strong influence on synthpop.
