Weiland Artist Information
What a career Scott Weiland has had! The lifestyle he has led and its many excesses would have destroyed most artists, but Weiland continues to soldier on, perform live and release new material. TickCo is here as your source for Weiland concert tickets!
Scott Weiland met bass player Robert De Leo at a Black Flag concert in 1986. The two formed a music partnership, which led to the formation of a band by the name of Mighty Joe Young. When their lawyer informed them that the name was already in use by another artist, they changed their name to Stone Temple Pilots. A legend was born.
STP had a successful and tumultuous career, and after selling millions of albums and winning multiple Grammy awards, the band went on hiatus in 1997. Weiland released his first solo disc, 12 Bar Blues, in 1998. The disc was miles away from his work with STP, and although it was not a big seller, it was a critical success.
Stone Temple Pilots re-formed in 1999 and released two more albums before once again breaking up in 2003. Most musicians would have sunk into a depression at this point, but Weiland is a survivor, and soon joined three former Guns N' Roses members for a new project. Already a veteran from one legendary band, Weiland found himself hooked up with another supergroup. Velvet Revolver became huge and released two albums during their career. However, Weiland's excesses once again became an issue and in March of 2008, he announced at a Velvet Revolver show in Glasgow that the show would be his last with the band.
A mere two-plus weeks later, Stone Temple Pilots announced they were reuniting for a tour. The tour was very successful with the band appearing at several big festivals, as well as performing at their own shows. The possibility of a full-fledged reunion is still possible.
Nearly lost in all the shuffle was the release of Weiland's second solo disc, "Happy" in Galoshes in November 2008. Once again, Weiland set out on an experimental journey during the creation of the album, with influences coming in from several directions. Weiland stated the album is inspired by the death of his brother Michael and his failed relationship with his wife after eight years.
Scott Weiland is a unique artist, but one thing that has never changed over the years is his performance onstage. This is one artist you do not want to miss a chance seeing live. Lock up great seats from TickCo today and see the energetic and enigmatic Weiland when he comes to your town!
