Robin Williams has one of the most prolific comedy careers of all time. He has succeeded in every area of show business—from standup and television to film and stage—Robin Williams was born to perform.
Born in Chicago in 1952, Williams was raised as an only child giving him time to develop his imagination. To keep himself entertained, Williams would memorize Jonathan Winters' comedy records. In high school, he was voted the funniest and most likely to succeed—a forewarning of his stellar career. In college, Williams got involved in improv and started training as a dramatic actor, eventually studying at the prestigious Juilliard School. His first real break came in the 70s at Los Angeles' Comedy Store which led to a short-lived gig on Laugh-In.
After leaving Laugh-In, Robin Williams was cast in Happy Days and the enormously popular television show Mork and Mindy. Williams then made his big-screen debut in Robert Altman's Popeye. Since that 1980 role, Robin Williams has played some of the most memorable characters: an unconventional DJ in Good Morning Vietnam; an animated, over the top genie in Aladdin; a cross-dressing nanny in Mrs. Doubtfire, an inspirational professor in Dead Poets Society. His most successful role was the Oscar-winning performance as a heart-warming psychologist in Good Will Hunting.
While his comedic style is overly energetic, manic and even downright crazy, one cannot argue that Robin Williams is one of the greatest comedians. Don’t miss your chance to see this legend perform live. Purchase your Robin Williams tickets today from TickCo Premium Seating.
