Reverend Horton Heat has been instrumental in popularizing a genre of music known as "psychobilly". Taking cues from punk rock, adding in a healthy dose of country and blending everything together with good old-fashioned rock and roll, the Reverend Horton Heat began playing together in the mid-eighties and eventually signed to Sub Pop Records. Jim Heath, who uses the Reverend Horton Heat as his stage moniker, plays one of the slickest guitars in rock music today. Jimbo Wallace is not the band's original bass player, but has appeared on all material the group has released. The line-up has been an ever-changing shift in drummers. Fortunately, what remains consistent is the powerful musicianship on display.
This is a band that established a serious reputation for furious live shows. Able to perform at festivals such the 2009 Stagecoach Festival in front of a hardcore country music crowd with classic country tracks like Liquor, Beer and Wine, to sending a mosh pit into a frenzy shredding on tracks such as 400 Bucks, the Reverend Horton Heat flat out knows how to play.
