Paul McCartney Artist Information
One of music's most important songwriting relationships began back in 1957 when John Lennon first met Paul McCartney. Incredibly, more than 50 years later Sir Paul McCartney is still at the top of his game, and TickCo is your ticket for great seats to see this legend in concert!
The Beatles revolutionalized rock and roll, and it would be difficult for any artist to honestly claim they were not in some manner influenced by the Fab Four. Paul McCartney played bass, shared lead vocal duties and most important, was a part of what many music critics consider to be the greatest songwriting partnership in music history. The Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, their first year of eligibility.
Paul McCartney released two solo records after The Beatles dissolved in 1970 before forming Wings in 1971. Wings was arguably the most successful post-Beatles band of any of its four members, putting out five albums that topped the Billboard Hot 200 and six singles that topped the U.S. Singles Chart.
Once Wings was dissolved in 1981, Paul McCartney continued to create music as a solo performer. During his solo career he has produced two Number One albums on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and hit the Number One spot on the U.S Singles Chart twice, once for his duet with Steve Wonder Ebony and Ivory, the second time dueting with Michael Jackson on Say, Say, Say.
This man's legacy is one that will live on for generations, and what is incredible is the fact Sir Paul McCartney continutes to add to this story well into his fifth decade of work. His creative output with Martin Glover, better known as Youth from the U.K. band Killing Joke, is known as The Fireman. This collaboration has allowed Sir Paul to cross over to a new generation of fans, as The Fireman creates a unique mix of electronica.
April of 2009 was a historic month for Paul McCartney. The month commenced with his performance alongside former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr at the Change Begins Within Benefit for the David Lynch Foundation. Later that same month he headlined Friday night of the 2009 Coachella Festival and put on an unbelievable, three-plus hour set. Not bad at all for a performer in his mid-sixties!
