Garth Brooks Artist Information
The city of Las Vegas has seen its share of incredible and popular talent at its many casinos and venues over the years. The Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas is the latest Vegas venue to join the party, and have brought out of retirment one of the most popular artists in the history of pop and country music, Garth Brooks!
Coming from humble beginnings in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks originally was going to enter a career in business after graduating from Oklahoma State in 1984 with a degree in advertising. Instead, later that year he began his music career playing in local bars and clubs in Stillwater. Five years later his self-titled debut was released and was an immediate hit, peaking at Number Two on the Billboard Country Album Chart and Number 13 on the Pop Album Chart. The album contained four Top Ten country singles with two reaching the top of that chart, including one of his signature tunes The Dance. Garth Brooks was already a star, but this was just the tip of the iceberg for the explosion in fame he was about to experience.
His sophomore effort released a year later No Fences spent 23 weeks atop the Billboard Country Album Chart and peaked at Number Three on the Pop Album Chart. No Fences contained his anthem Friends in Low Places and further solidified his status as a country music star. His third release, Ropin' the Wind, was released in 1991 and took Garth Brooks to places no country artist has ever entered within the realm of popular music. Ropin' the Wind entered the Billboard Pop Album Chart at Number One, something no country artist had ever done. In addition, the popularity of Garth Brooks was so huge at this point that his first two albums saw a subsequent rise in sales, to the point where all three were in the Top 20 on the Pop Album Chart at the same time!
Fame can prove to be too much for some performers, and the time away from his family took its toll on Garth Brooks. When Scarecrow was released November 13, 2001, Garth Brooks announced his retirement from the music industry. Fans were devastated, but Garth Brooks stayed true to himself, and other than occasional performances, including a nine date stint at the Sprint Center in Kansas City November of 2007, Garth Brooks remained retired.
Things change, and to the delight of his fans Garth Brooks has announced a residency at the Wynn Las Vegas. Tickets for all Garth Brooks concert tickets at the Encore Theater will be handed out at will call only.
