Help Me Choose My Seats ™

TMS Specs: Banking/Turns: 24° · Distance: 1.5 miles · Shape: Quad-oval

General Information

Texas Motor Speedway is a 1-½ mile quad oval track with wide turns and straightaways that leave lots of room for passing. The way the grandstands are constructed, the 100 series grandstands are located on Turn 1, 200 series grandstands are located on Turn 2, 300 series on Turn 3 and 400 series on Turn 4. Texas Motor Speedway seats approximately 155,000 race fans in the grandstands. There are 66 rows on the front stretch and 35 rows on the backstretch. Remember that the speedway is located in a "dry county" which means they do not sell alcohol at the concessions. Sometimes there is a beer garden available (according to the track) but don't count on it. You are allowed to bring a 14"x14" cooler with your favorite beer into the track.

PSL: PU 101-128 and PU 401-428 Rated
These seats are located on the front stretch across from the pits and give an excellent view of the entire track. Preferred seat license seats or PSL are theatre style seats complete with backs and arm rests. These seats are in rows 29-66. These are the most expensive grandstands seats but price fluctuation on the front stretch from low rows to high is fairly minimal. I highly recommend these seats if you are trying to make a good impression on your guests or if you just want to go all out at the race. You can generally get these seats for just a little more than the lower rows.

PL 101-128 and PL 401-428 Rated
These are the lower rows 1-28 and in my opinion I would spend the extra money to sit in the PSL seats. These are the regular grandstand bleachers and can get a little crowded. The seats are also on the front stretch across from the pits. If you plan to sit in these bleachers I would recommend row 10 and higher to give you a better view of the action.

Sections 129-149 and 429-448 Rated
These are all bleacher seats. The PU rows, which are rows 29-66, will give you a much better view of the track than the PL rows 1-28. The disadvantage to these seats is that you will be looking across pit road instead of directly at it. Also the price difference between these and the PSL style seats isn't that great.

Backstretch Sections 201-230 and 301-330 Rated
If your goal is to just simply get into the race and you do not have much concern for the view, these will be the cheapest seats available. Myself personally, I would spend the extra money to be able to see the race from the pit side.
