$7500 Fine?
According to this Danny O'Neil, at the Seattle Times, article here, Darnell Dockett was only fined $7500 for his cheap blow to Hasselbeck during the Arizona game. If this is the case for every cheap shot in the NFL then why doesn't each player who sacks a QB take a cheap shot? They make millions so this is just pennies out of their pocket. 16 games a year, 5-10 sacks per year for a DE or DL, add that up and it only totals $37,500-$75,000 per year. Hey, maybe it's worth it if you m...

Is there still a "code" in the NFL?
For his new book, "The Code", Ross Bernstein talked to dozens of current and former NFL players and coaches about the unwritten rules that have held the game together for decades. I've been reading and enjoying the book since I bought it. One play this season made me wonder if the gentrification of pro football has suppressed or eliminated the "eye-for-an-eye" factor. When Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett(notes) pressed his elbow into Seattle Seahawks...

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett is facing more backlash from an elbow that was pressed into Matt Hasselbeck's throat on Sunday. Bob Stoops To ND Is 'Ridiculous,' But Mike Leach Is Crazy Enough To Bolt Tech
Neither of these batty rumors even approaches last year's "Les Miles to Washington!" rumor, for my money the grand champion insane coaching-move rumor of the past half-dozen years, but they're both in the conversation for this year's trophy. Door #1 is Bob Stoops to Notre Dame: If athletic director Jack Swarbrick decides Weis' Notre Dame career is over after his fifth season, a source said Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz will be in ...
