Weezer Artist Information
If you want to see a funky band with quirky lyrics and great stage presence, than Weezer is for you. After all, how stressful can it be when you're from southern California and you keep pumping out major hits? Weezer formed in 1992 and today consists of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner.
The band's first album Weezer was a huge success, going triple platinum and releasing major hits Undone (The Sweater Song), Buddy Holly and Say It Ain't So. Not only were their songs catchy, but their videos were unusually clever, especially the Happy Days inspired video for Buddy Holly. After Weezer's second album Pinkerton, which contained radio favorites El Scorcho and The Good Life, the band took a three year hiatus from recording. Three years into their reunion, Weezer released Make Believe which contained the enormously popular single Beverly Hills. The hit was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 48th Grammy Awards and reached #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
In June of 2008, Weezer released another self-titled album, also referred to as The Red Album. Cuomo describes the record as more experimental with longer, non-traditional songs, and the use of a variety of instruments including drum machines and synthesizers. Weezer certainly knows how to reinvent sounds and styles while doing it their way, on their time. Get ready for an exciting evening with the always entertaining Weezer.
