The city of New Orleans has hosted the Voodoo Music Experience since 1999. The festival has grown into a three day affair and has become such a popular event that Pollstar has nominated the Voodoo Experience twice for Music Festival of the Year.
Highlighted by the diverse genres of music that play each year, the Voodoo Music Experience is held the weekend before Halloween at City Park in New Orleans. The festival began as a single day event in 1999 and has continued to evolve each year. Today this three day event is hosted in three different areas of City Park with two stages in each area. Each area represents a different part of the personality of New Orleans, with Le Ritual featuring familiar, more mainstream music, Le Flambeau tailored to the sounds of The Big Easy of New Orleans, and Le Carnival featuring indie-rock bands and a circus type atmosphere.
This has allowed the organizers of the Voodoo Experience an opportunity to invite acts as unique and different as George Clinton and the Parliment-Funkadelic, Tool, Eminem, X, The Roots, Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys, the Pixies, the Flaming Lips, Digable Planets, CAKE and Rage Against the Machine.
