Possessing one of the most distinct voices in music, Robert Plant joined Jimmy Page from The Yardbirds once that band dissolved. Led Zeppelin had a monster career, being one of the most influential bands in rock music history and is considered one of the godfathers of "heavy metal", although Robert Plant himself dismisses use of the term to describe the band. Led Zeppelin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and has played various reunion shows since their original break-up in 1980 after drummer Keith Moon's death.
Robert Plant has enjoyed considerable success after Led Zeppelin. He was a member of the one-time project The Honeydrippers, has released several solo discs and reunited with Jimmy Page for the Page and Plant project in the nineties. Most recently he collaborated with Alison Krauss, a star in the bluegrass genre of music. Their song Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On) was a 2008 Grammy Award winner for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
