Phil Lesh is most famous for his three-decade stint as the bassist for the Grateful Dead. Phil Lesh was a longtime friend of the late Jerry Garcia. In 1965, Phil joined Jerry's band the Warlocks which was soon renamed the Grateful Dead. The Dead's psychedelic, blues, jazz and rock style made them one of the most famous and successful groups of all time. They also attracted the most dedicated followers. After Garcia's death in 1995, the band dispersed and each member eventually started solo careers
Phil Lesh released his first live album Love Will See You Through in 1999 and found instant success. After touring to promote the new record, Lesh started to work on his first studio album There and Back Again which was released in 2002. Since then, he has toured as Phil Lesh & Friends and has released several more live albums. The band's musical style is similar to the Grateful Dead, but they also play faster, harder rock songs.
