My Morning Jacket formed in 1998 and released its debut The Tennessee Fire the next year. Along with contemporaries the Fleet Foxes and the utterly amazing Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket built a reputation and a strong following by sticking to their formula, creating music free of artistic boundaries. Their music is heavy on the reverb, features the soaring vocals of songwriter/guitarist Jim James and truly talented musicianship from "Two-Tone Tommy" Blankenship on bass, Patrick Hallahan on drums, Carl Broemel on guitar, pedal steel guitar and the saxophone, and Bo Koster on the keyboards.
Enthusiastic and energetic live shows have become a staple with My Morning Jacket, chronicled with the release of Okonokos in 2006. An ambitious double-disc, the release was recorded during a two-night stint at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Fans of My Morning Jacket had no idea what they were in store for two years later when the band performed at the Bonnaroo Festival in 2008, their fifth time performing at the popular event.
The band hit the stage at midnight on Friday and nearly FOUR hours later finally ended an unbelievable set that had festival-goers talking all weekend! This is one band that goes out of its way to put on a show for its fans. Don't miss your opportunity to see My Morning Jacket live when they roll through your town.
