Marc Anthony began his career as a session vocalist for several freestyle music acts and did this for a number of years until 1992. At this point he made a career defining move, switching to salsa and other types of Spanish music.
This proved to be the right move. Marc Anthony released his Spanish debut Otra Nota in 1993. The album became a fan favorite and Marc Anthony hit the touring circuit with a fervor, establishing himself as one of the rising stars in the salsa scene.
Crossover success came in 1999 with his fifth album Marc Anthony. Reaching Number Eight on the U.S. Album Charts, the disc was chock full of English-language Latin Pop and his fan base increased dramatically. He has not let up since and has several Number One Latin and Tropical albums to his credit, as well as a handful of U.S. Top 40 albums.
