John Legend Artist Information
John Legend only came on to the music scene in 2004 with his debut album Get Lifted but one year later, everyone in the music industry knew about the singer, songwriter and pianist from Ohio.
Get Lifted went multi-platinum and gave Legend his first three Grammy Awards — Best New Artist, Best R&B Album and Best R&B Vocal Performance for Ordinary People. The album also featured the hit single Used to Love U which hit the Top 100. Before Legend gained momentum with the solo album, he collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, singing with Slum Village (Selfish), Jay-Z (Encore), Dilated Peoples (This Way) and Alicia Keys (You Don't Know My Name).
John Legend's soothing voice, honest lyrics and brilliant piano skills were showcased on this follow up album Once Again. And again, he was rewarded with a Grammy, this time for the seductive hit single Heaven. Legend co-wrote and co-produced most of the album, which also features appearances by Kanye West, will.i.am, and Craig Street. Once Again peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the R&B charts.
