Jill Scott has had a remarkable career after very humble beginnings. She originally was studying to become a secondary school English teacher, but grew disillusioned with that lifestyle and went into entertainment.

Time spent at live poetry readings as a spoken word artist led Jill Scott to being discovered by Questlove of The Roots. Questlove invited her to collaborate with him and the result was the tune You Got Me. Jill Scott co-wrote that single with Questlove, a single which eventaully was a Grammy Award winner for The Roots and Erykah Badu.

That experience led to a record deal which has produced multiple Top Ten albums and several Grammy Award nominations with multiple wins. She continues to write poetry as well.

Live, Jill Scott has a vocal style which combines R&B, jazz, hip-hop and spoken word into an eclectic mix. She has a massive vocal range which her fans and her critics marvel at.
