The band was founded in 1976 by Tom Scholz, a MIT graduate. The early demos created were the basis for what would become the best selling debut album in U.S. history, Boston. Tracks such as More Than a Feeling continue to be staples on the radio twenty-plus years later.
The band has withstood several pitfalls and even tragedies during their long career, including lawsuits with former band members and their original record company, a revolving cast of musicians and the untimely death of lead vocalist Brad Delp in 2007. Still, Boston soldiers on. Five of their six albums have been certified platinum, Amanda was a Number One single back in 1986 and they possess one of the most loyal audiences in rock and roll.
