Austin City Limits is a critically acclaimed show on PBS that has run for over thirty years. The series showcases musical talent from a variety of genres in an intimate setting. The success and longevity of the television series helped spawn the Austin City Limits Festival in 2002, which brings to the masses over one hundred artists in a three-day period September of each year.
The Austin City Limits Festival has quickly become one of the most well-attended music festivals in the United States. 2002 the event was just a two day festival, but each year from then on the festival has run for three full days. Both independent and mainstream artists have played at ACL, with acts as diverse and popular as R.E.M., Band of Horses, Coldplay, Bob Mould, Tom Petty and the Fleet Foxes.
2009 is shaping up to be another banner year! Music heavyweights Pearl Jam, the Dave Matthews Band and Kings of Leon are some of the big draws of this year's festival. There are plenty of other incredible acts on the bill as well. Ghostland Observatory, the B-52's and Girl Talk will have the crowds dancing in their seats with their energetic music.
