Help Me Choose My Seats at Monster Park (Formerly 3Com Park)

General Information

The rule of thumb when choosing seats to a football event implies that lower level 50 yard line seats are going to be the best seats in the house. As a general rule middle level and upper level yard line seats between the end zones will be lower in price than the lower level premium seats. Keep in mind the higher up and further away from the 50 yard line the seats the more the ticket price will decrease. Prices tend do decrease even further in the corners of a football stadium and further still behind the end zones. Keep in mind, the best seats will vary from venue to venue and the information given above is based on football ticket prices as a whole. More specific information is provided below for Monster Park.

Lower Box Between the 40 Yard-lines (Rows 15-20) - These are the best seats in the house. These seats are in the higher box rows near the 50 yard line with a better overall view of the field. If you're the religious type and you find yourself sitting on the east side of the stadium, you may want to offer an extra tithing to those in power as these are the toughest seats to find tickets for. The east side offers the most extended sunlight when game times permit.

Lower Box Yard-lines (24 Rows) - These seats are about as close to the field as you can get without being on the team. These are the best seats for snapping photos up close. You'll hear all the shouts and groans associated with an NFL game from here. The east side offers the most extended sunlight when game times permit. If you sit in the first few rows on the west side of the stadium you may have trouble seeing through the mammoth 49ers bench to get a full view of the field. I recommend looking for seats higher up in this section.

Lower Reserved Yard-lines (22 Rows) - These seats are higher than the boxes with a better overall view of the field. Expect to pay more the closer your seats are to the 50 yard line.

Upper Box Between the 40 Yard-lines (7-8 Rows) - These seats are a step up from the Lower Reserved you don't have to climb up so far to get to your seats. If you find tickets on the east side in sections 43-47, your doing something right. If you can afford tickets in these sections don't pass them up as these sections are arguably the home of the best seats in the house.

Upper Box Yard-lines (7-8 Rows) -
These seats are a step up from the Lower Reserved you don't have to climb up so far to get to your seats.

Upper Reserved (20-24 Rows) - These are the most economical seats that you can buy. Be wary of sections 18 and 28 at this level, a complete view of the field may be obstructed by the protruding press box.

Corners/End-zones Even Numbered Sections - These are some of the lower priced seats. You get a more narrow view of the field. But when the action is on your end you get 100% of the intensity. Be wary of lower level even sections 2-8, try not to sit in the back rows of these sections. I only recommend sitting here if you find a reasonable price and simply want to be a part of a 49ers game because you really don't get a chance to see all of the action from these seats.

Corners/End-zones Lower Level Odd Numbered Sections - These offer similar views to the even numbered sections but there are a few more sections you should avoid unless you're looking for a bargain price. For the best experience in these sections avoid seats in the back rows of the lower level odd sections 1-21.

Venue Information

Monster Park (formerly known as Candlestick Park) is nested in San Francisco, California. This stadium is able to accommodate 69,834 spectators for a football event. It is probably a good idea to bring a sweater to the park. 3Com is infamous for being pretty windy and watch out when that sun goes down! Temperatures have been know to dip into the 50s with a chilling ocean breeze during the early season and they only drop as the season progresses! You might also want to prepare yourself for the amazing view of the San Francisco Bay as you approach the stadium. They know cuisine in the Bay Area so I highly recommend taking in the tastes and aromas associated with tailgating at this venue. Be prepared to spend $20 on parking around the perimeter of the stadium. Pre paid on site parking can be difficult to obtain. Parking away from the site may earn you a jump on the nasty traffic during events. Once inside "the Stick" you can feast on everything from veggie burgers and fruit to prawns, gumbo and seafood salad. Save room for beverages, this place has the best selection of specialty beers and wine I've ever seen at an NFL game.
