Cher began her career in 1962. Her career exploded in 1965 with the huge Number One hit single I Got You Babe as part of the tandem of Sonny and Cher. The duo was given an opportunity to host their own variety show and The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour debuted in 1971. A big hit, the show received 15 Emmy Award nominations during its run of three seasons.

Her forty-plus year career has been nothing short of spectacular. She has a total of eight Number One singles in her career, seven of those as a solo artist. Believe, released in 1998, became the Number Three single ever released by a female worldwide and the eighth best selling song of the nineties, having sold over 10 million units. Her talent crossed over into other entertainment arenas as well, winning an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and three Golden Globe awards.
