Jeff Foxworthy had noble beginnings before becoming a comedic superstar, working for IBM in computer maintenance. His co-workers convinced him to enter the Great Southeastern Laugh-off at Atlanta's Punch Line comedy club in 1984, which he won. Jeff Foxworthy enjoyed immediate success as a stand-up comic and has not stopped since.
Most noted for his collection of "You Might be a Redneck If ..." one-liners, Jeff Foxworthy worked hard to perfect his craft and in 1990 was awarded "Best Stand-Up Comic" at the American Comedy Awards. Three years later he released his debut album You Might be a Redneck If ... The disc was a huge hit, peaking at Number Three on the Country Charts and Number 38 on the Billboard Hot 200 Album Charts. His sophomore effort, Games Rednecks Play, was released two years later and was an even bigger hit, reaching Number Two on the Country Charts and Number Eight on the Hot 200. Foxworthy was a bonafide star.
He built on that success with his own TV show in 1995, The Jeff Foxworthy Show. The creation of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, along with noted comedians Bill Engvall, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy, lasted a phenomenal three years, selling out venues throughout the country. Blue Collar became a popular fad and Jeff Foxworthy has continued to ride that wave throughout the decade.
