Dolphin Stadium
A Fan's Guide to the Game
The National League East Division is bound to be one of the most contested battlefields during the season and the Florida Marlins are not going to give up any ground easily. Any Marlins fan headed out for a game at Dolphin Stadium should take a look at our "Fan's Guide to the Game" below.
Newly dubbed Dolphin Stadium and home to the Florida Marlins, this is a multipurpose venue that does it right. The box-style design allows for one of the most fan friendly seating layouts of its type. Rarely will you find a football venue that allows for baseball seating as close to the field as you'll find at Dolphin Stadium. You can even find some slanted seating down the lines if you look hard enough.
It's easy to see, by the ocean of orange seats if not the new name, that the Marlins are not alone in this stadium, but you don't have to fear for a lack of good seats being available at a Marlins game. A strong benefit of sharing a home with an NFL team is the theatre style seating. Each fan gets a theatre style chair and cup holder with their seat, even in the outfield. Home plate lies in the Northwest corner of the stadium, so seating is appropriately angled right towards the action between the bases.
It doesn't hold the ambiance of some of the newer parks designed with a more classic tie to the game, but Dolphin Stadium does have some unique features to its outfield that keep the game interesting. One of these features is the 33-foot high scoreboard in left-center field. Balls hit off this wall are in play and it takes quite a poke to clear this barrier. There's also a nasty little crook, where the left field wall meets the center field wall, that keeps fielders guessing on some long hit flys into the power alley. Overall, it's very impressive how well they've incorporated the game of baseball into the layout in Miami. As far as multipurpose facilities go, Dolphin Stadium is probably one of the nicest parks of its type to catch a baseball game at.
Hungry? Welcome to South-Florida, where Latin meets Kosher. At Dolphin Stadium you'll find everything from Cuban sandwiches and empanadas to a kosher deli. Visit SportsTown between gates F and H for nearly 8,000 square-feet of concession stands, bars, souvenir shops and interactive gaming areas.
Thirsty?
You can find over three dozen imported beers at Dolphin Stadium, so there's no need to let your lips dry up for lack of an ice cold beverage or frosty brew!
Fresh air, sunshine and cold brews are calling, so grab some friends, family or co-workers, head out of the office early, and get out to Dolphin Stadium for a Marlins game! |
