| Stocking their arsenal with some young arms, the Oakland A's are looking to claim the AL title this season. If you're traveling out to McAfee Coliseum for an A's game, you'll want to catch our "Fan's Guide to the Game" below.
If you suffer from claustrophobia, you won't have any worries about watching a baseball game at McAfee Coliseum. It was built for the Raiders and football so there's plenty of room at a baseball game. The Coliseum opened in 1966 and it didn't take long before the Athletics were lured away from Kansas City to play their first official game in the Coliseum on April 17th, 1968. The Coliseum is massive and round, and while it may not be the ideal place to watch a baseball game, you didn't hear fans complaining when Canceco, McGwire and Weiss helped to lead the A's to three consecutive league titles or in 1989 during the "Bay Bridge" sweep of the Giants.
This is Bay Area baseball. Fresh coastal air and warm California sunshine can be just what the doctor ordered to get you out of the office on a nice summer day.
Parking? There's plenty of room in the parking lot, but with one exit, post-game traffic delays should be expected. A good bet is to grab a round trip BART ticket to the game, this way you avoid any lines after the game.
Good times are to be had at McAfee Coliseum this season, so get your A's tickets and root your Athletics on to victory! |
