A Fan's Guide to the Game
You won't see an overpaid lineup of marquee players at a Royals game this season. What you will see is some feisty young-guns trying to make a name for themselves in the "Big Show." Opened on April 10th, 1973 as Royals Stadium and renamed Kauffman Stadium after Ewing M. Kauffman on July 2nd, 1993, the 2008 season will be the Royals 35th in this beautiful park. With its 322-foot wide water spectacular in right field and a 12-story high scoreboard, the design of Kauffman Stadium remains ahead of its time.
Two great sports in one great stadium. Royals fans, 12 and under, might want to test their miniature golf skill on the 4-hole Cool Crest Putting Diamond in right field. Kids can also experience big league action by visiting the Little K, miniature-sized interactive ballpark, located beyond right field.
Hungry? Kansas City is beef country and you're sure to find some tasty treats at Gates Bar-B-Q.
Obstructed views? You'll be hard pressed to find a bad seat in this yard.
Parking? Ever see Field of Dreams? There's plenty of parking surrounding Kauffman Stadium. Imagine if Kevin Costner added seating for 40,000 plus fans to his diamond and cleared out the rest of his corn fields for parking and you'll have a pretty good mental image of the parking lot at Kauffman Stadium.
