Coming from humble beginnings in Mexico, Vicente Fernandez won a singing contest in Guadalajara and at the age of 21 appeared on a show by the name of La Calandria Musical. The experience gave him the motivation to sing professionally.

When Fernandez moved to Mexico City, he landed a spot singing on the city's premier radio station. The exposure enabled him to build his fan base and build a reputation for quality live performances.

Since releasing his debut in 1968, Vicente Fernandez has released over fifty albums, appeared in over a dozen movies and been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He once played a free concert at La Plaza de Mexico and even with cold and rainy conditions, 54,000 fans still showed up to see him play, a record for any gathering at the venue and a record that still stands today.
