Creating music with a blues and sometimes psychedelic edge to it, Steve Miller began crafting his art back in 1967. A revolving cast of musicians have been in the band, but the constant has been Steve Miller's guitar play and recognizable vocal delivery. With each successive album released the band gained more fans. 1973 saw the release of The Joker, which rose to Number Two on the U.S. album chart and the title track became the band's first Number One single.
The band charted well throughout the seventies and early eighties, scoring five Top Ten singles with three topping the charts. The compilation Greatest Hits 1974-1978 continues to be a huge seller and ranks in the Top 40 all time for best selling rock albums.
