New Kids on the Block Artist Information
New Kids On The Block had been absent from the music world for well over a decade. The original "boy band" will always be the Jackson Five, but NKOTB, along with the New Edition, helped re-introduce the concept to the world in the eighties. Formed in Boston in 1984, Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood, and Donnie and Mark Wahlberg were the original five members of NKOTB. When Mark left the band, he was eventually replaced by Joey McIntyre. The group released their debut in 1986 to little success. Two years later Hangin' Tough was released. A slot opening for Tiffany on her tour helped garner the band some attention, but it was not until the video for their second single You Got It (The Right Stuff) began to receive heavy airplay that the band really began to be noticed.
Hangin' Tough would eventually hit Number One on the charts, produce five Top Ten singles and be certified eight-times platinum.
A Christmas album was released before their next new effort, Step By Step, was released. That disc would go triple-platinum, reach Number One on the Album Charts and produce two more Top Ten singles, the title track going all the way to Number One. During this run they had a string of nine consecutive Top Ten singles.
Eventually teen bubblegum pop would start to fade away and grunge would become popular. New Kids On The Block hung it up in 1994. There had been numerous attempts to coerce the group into reuniting over the years, but it was not until April 3, 2008 that the rumors would become reality.
This what their long-time fans had been coveting for years. New Kids On The Block were a big draw and a fast sell-out in the past, and things are the same today. Do not be left out in the cold when they come to your area. TickCo has your tickets for the best seats in the house to see NKOTB live in your town!
