Metallica played a style of music that completely went against the grain of the current pop metal that was becoming popular. Their aggressive style of music won them a hardcore legion of fans and their performances became stories of legend.
The release of their third album Master of Puppets in 1986 was a watershed for the band, a phenomenal disc of ear-splitting intensity, monster riffs and fabulous lyrics. The band was set to take over the industry, when tragically their bass player, Cliff Burton, was killed in a bus accident September of that year.
The band recruited Jason Newsted of Flotsam and Jetsam fame and two albums later, Metallica, also commonly referred to as The Black Album, was released. To date that album still ranks in the Top 25 albums based on sales of all time, going platinum an astonishing 15 times. Several of Metallica's most popular tunes came from this disc, including Sad But True and the anthemic Enter Sandman.
Metallica has solidified their place in rock history and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Make your plans today to see Metallica live when they hit your hometown. TickCo has your tickets for the best seats in the house!
