Lynyrd Skynyrd is a Southern rock and roll band with a major characteristic that separates them from many other major artists. A triple-lead guitar attack characterizes their sound and made songs such as "Freebird" and Sweet Home Alabama" staples on the radio.
The band has enjoyed a long career, but not without tragedy along the way. Three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd were killed in a plane crash in October of 1977. The tragedy put the band on hiatus for ten years, but a revamped line-up began to play in 1987 and has continued to make new music and tour today. Their hard work and perserverance enabled the band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has quite a busy summer concert schedule. First, they team up with Hank Williams Jr. for the Rowdy Frynds Tour. Then later in the summer they set off with rap rocker and country star Kid Rock. Please check the listings in your area to see exactly who will be on the bill in your town!
