Kings of Leon Artist Information
Kings of Leon are relatively new on the music scene, but thanks to opening gigs for U2 and main-stage appearances at some of the biggest summer festivals, the band has attracted a strong following. Kings of Leon formed in 2000 and quickly established themselves as a Dixie-styled rock and roll band, fitting for their Tennessee upbringing. The group consists of the Followill brothers–Caleb, Nathan, Jared–and first cousin Matthew. As children, the brothers would tour the country with their evangelist father, but when the family moved to Nashville, they embraced rock.
In 2003, Kings of Leon released their debut album Youth & Young Manhood which found moderate success overseas. Their second album Aha Shake Heartbreak made them European stars with three singles hitting the U.K. charts. But it was third time's a charm for the group. In 2007, they released Because of the Times which topped the charts in the U.K., Ireland and New Zealand, but more importantly, debuted at No. 27 in the U.S. Kings of Leon had finally broken through in the states.
As the band releases more albums, the success keeps growing and more fans keep emerging.
