The music of John Mellencamp has been an American tradition for over twenty-five years. His Americana, roots-rock style of music has endeared him to his fans and brought home over ten platinum albums, half of those being certified multi-platinum.
John Mellencamp hit the big time with the release of 1982's American Fool. Two singles from the album, Hurts So Good and Jack and Diane, were massive hits, with Hurts So Good spending 16 weeks in the Top Ten on the singles chart and winning the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, and Jack and Diane spending four weeks as the Number One hit single.
His philosophy comes shining through on classic tunes such as Pink Houses, Small Town and Our Country. He has gained tremendous respect for his outspoken views in regards to politics and his country. This dedication to his beliefs helped drive him to be one of the organizers of Farm Aid, a benefit concert with the proceeds used to aid struggling farmers.
John Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, a clear testament to his hard work and fine music output.
