About the Artist: Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac Artist Information

How many bands can state they have existed in one form or another for parts of five consecutive decades? Fleetwood Mac has done so, and with considerable success. Join the band as they embark on yet another tour with your purchase of tickets from TickCo!

Fleetwood Mac has undergone numerous personnel changes over the years, but the line-up most well-known consists of Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass, Christine McVie on keyboards and vocals, Lindsey Buckingham on guitars and vocals, and Stevie Nicks on vocals. This line-up came together in 1975 and later that year released Fleetwood Mac, the second time the band had used that title for an album. However, the second time the album was big hit, reaching the coveted Number One spot on the U.S. Album Chart.

The members of the band were all going through emotional turmoil in their lives, mainly a result of relationship problems each was experiencing. John and Christine were married to one another, and Buckingham and Nicks were romantically involved. Rather than withdraw from their lives, they channeled their experiences into one of the biggest selling albums of all time, Rumours, which was released in 1977. An epic pop album, Rumours spent over six months on top of the U.S. Album Chart, won the Grammy Award for Best Album that year and to date has sold an astonishing 30 million copies, over 19 million in the U.S. alone.

This line-up continued to record together for three more discs through 1987, with all three discs reaching platinum status and Mirage, released in 1982, reaching the top of the charts. Lindsey Buckingham left the band in 1987 and the remaining members recruited different artists to fill the void. The band reunited in 1993 to play President Bill Clinton's first Inauguration Ball at his request, as the single Don't Stop was used during his campaign for the Presidency.

It was not until 1997 that the classic Rumours line-up would release another disc together, the live album The Dance, which debuted at Number One on the U.S. Album Chart and eventually became the fifth best selling live album of all time in the U.S.
